Iran seeking to re-operate 2nd plant
TEHRAN , Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Iran's outgoing Supreme National Security Council chief , Hasan Rohani, said Iran wants to re-operate a second nuclear center after agreement with Europe.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran is seeking to resume activities at the nuclear installations of Natanz and will give Europe a chance to reach an agreement with it through negotiations before restarting operations," Rohani said at a ceremony following his resignation late Sunday night.
He was quoted by the Iranian News Agency, IRNA, as saying Iran is ready to resume the dialogue on Natanz, and it is up to the Europeans to agree to continue negotiations.
Natanz comprises underground installations in central Iran, including centrifuges for uranium enriching.
Iran's nuclear negotiations with a European troika comprising the foreign ministers of France , Britain and Germany, stopped earlier this month after Tehran resumed activities at the main nuclear conversion center in Isfahan.
Rohani warned if the issue of Iran's nuclear activities is referred to the U.N. Security Council, "it means that the International Atomic Energy Agency has lost its neutrality and is subject to U.S. pressures and influence."Related Topics Articles:
