Marthas Original Ring - made by her sister
I made another Sea Glass Engagement Ring!nbsp; I am so touched again to be asked to do this for another bride to be.nbsp; To be asked to make such a sentimental piece of jewelry for someone is such a huge honor.
A few weeks ago Martha contacted me, with an interesting story.nbsp; Her sister had actually made a sea glass engagement ring for her.nbsp; Her fiancee Bryan had proposed with this ring, it was very sentimental to both of them having been made by Martharsquo;s sister.
Ring Designs
Unfortunately,
www.moncler-paschere.net,
22147, as Martha explained to me it just couldnbsp; not hold up to everyday wear.nbsp;nbsp; After some time it became brittle and fell apart.nbsp; Just makes me want to cry. :(nbsp; So Martha went to the internet for a solution.nbsp; She googled and found ME!!! Yay!nbsp; Donrsquo;t younbsp; just love google?nbsp; She found my blog post about the last engagement ring that I made for Steph.nbsp;nbsp; She really liked that one and asked me if it would be possible for me to make one for her.nbsp; She really liked the ring that her sister made but needed something that would hold up to wearing everyday.
Martha sent me pictures of the ring her sister made. It was very pretty.nbsp; It was a wire wrapped ring.nbsp; Although beautiful,
23547, just could not hold up.nbsp; So I started brain storming.nbsp; I explained to Martha that I might be able to use the same piece of glass that was in the original ring.nbsp; She sent it to me so I could see it in person.nbsp; Once it arrived in my mail box I got to work making designs that would work for the piece of glass.
Design Martha Picked
I actually ended up loosing sleep over this ring.nbsp; I was up one night, staring out the window,
UGG Pas Cher France, thinking about the piece of glass and how it would work to bezel set a piece of sea glass that had a hole in it.nbsp; An engagement/wedding ring needs to hold up to stand the test of time.nbsp; The piece of glass that Martha sent me had a hole in it.nbsp; Although, I knew I could make a design that would cover the hole I was not confident about the stability of the piece (because of the hole).nbsp;nbsp; Drilling a hole in a piece of sea glass is literally a fracture in the piece of glass and compromises the stability of the piece.nbsp; I was also worried about cleaning the piece because with time the hole would be bound to getting debris stuck in the inside and toward the bottom of the bezel.nbsp; I figured this could be solved by filling the hole with some kind of clear epoxy.nbsp; But was not crazy about it.nbsp; So,
ugg boots sale uk cheap, I told Martha about my concerns with her piece of glass.nbsp;nbsp; I knew this piece of glass was sentimental to her and could make it work but wanted to let her know what would be involved.nbsp; I also told her if she preferred to not have to worry about these things, I fortunately had another piece of glass from my own collection that was almost identical in color, shape and almost size.nbsp; It was just a little smaller.nbsp; After hearing my concerns Martha decided that it would be best to use a new piece of glass.
I sat down with my sketch pad and since I could not find my colored pencils, I used crayons.nbsp; No other smell brings you right back to your childhood other than the smell of crayons.nbsp; But I digress.nbsp; So, I made some sketches for Martha to choose from.nbsp; I was keeping in mind the original design that her sister had made.nbsp; I made a few that were inspired by her design and also made some different designs in case she would like something different.
I had picked out design 2 as my favorite and figured it was the closest to her original ring.nbsp; She felt the same, :) which I was thrilled about because I really wanted to honor her sister with making this ring, and her original design.nbsp; After a size check at a jewelry store Martha let me know her ring size and off to my studio I went.
After I finished the ring I sent pictures to Bryan to approve. He loved it and could not wait to get it.nbsp; Before shipping it off to snow covered Boston I photographed it from all angles, so I could share it with you.nbsp; The ring made its way through the snow and into Bryanrsquo;s hands.nbsp; I received a happy email from Martha the same day.nbsp; ldquo;Meg! Bryan gave me the ring tonight and I LOVE it,
25732! Its so perfect and beautiful!! I cannot stop staring at it because I love it so much. Thank you for making me such an amazing ring.rdquo;nbsp; That just makes my heart pitter-patter.nbsp; Thank you so much Martha and Bryan for letting me create the ring to represent your love for each other,
26421, it is truly an honor.nbsp; I hear the date is set for a September wedding.nbsp; I wish you the best of luck and thank you again.
