LANSING,scarponcini timberland, Mich., Sept. 17 (UPI) -- A bill that would allow some students attending Michigan's community colleges to earn bachelor's degrees "is truly a step forward" a college official said. The legislation to let community colleges offer four-year degrees in nursing,the north face arctic parka, culinary arts,timberland on line, maritime technology and concrete technology was passed by the Michigan House of Representatives, The Detroit News reported. "This legislation is critical for Michigan's citizens and students,The North Face Jackets, as well as the future of our state,ugg italia," Mike Hansen,www.stivali-it.com, president of the Michigan Community College Association, said in a written statement. "(This) is truly a step forward in the retooling of Michigan's workforce and its continuing transition into a knowledge-based economy." Public universities oppose the plan, seeing it as competition,saldi ugg, and called it bad for the state's students and economy. "There is no waiting line for these programs now,www.northface.org.uk," said Michael Boulus,www.scarpespaccio.net, executive director of the Presidents Council of State Universities of Michigan. "Community colleges do not have the base of professional educators needed to provide accredited bachelor's degrees." The bill has bipartisan support in the Democrat-led House, and now goes to the Republican-led Senate. If passed, it would require the signature of Gov.
