It’s hard not to look at Mark Badgley and James Mischka’s runway as a red carpet preview. The design duo opened their show Tuesday morning with gown after gown,plus size beach wedding dresses, one or more of which will undoubtedly be seen at the Academy Awards in a little over a week.
Some looks even combined the pieces,mother of the groom gowns, like a black net top from the Couture line with a twill skirt from Mark+James.
The dresses ranged in style,tea length bridesmaid dresses, color and texture,tea length wedding dress, from a rich magenta sequined gown to a silvery v-neck style with delicate beaded fringe.
“We’ve never been about office clothes,” Mr. Badgley said after the show. “Gowns—we could do gowns all day long.”
Messrs. Badgley and Mischka mixed pieces of their lower-priced Mark+James line among its Couture and Collection lines.
The design duo,masquerade ball gowns, which recently opened a flagship in Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles,wedding evening dress, said old Hollywood glamour inspired the collection. Brightly-colored elbow-length leather gloves added an especially ladylike touch.
“It’s how a woman dresses today. She wears a T-shirt and a $10,mother of the bride dress tea length,000 skirt,lace bridal dress,” Mr. Badgley said after the show. “Women wear what they want to wear. They can’t be dictated to.”
A black one-shouldered gown,bridal petticoat, with a feather-covered strap,modest prom dresses, seemed to be an obvious Black Swan moment.
