Does anyone do floral-embellished anything quite as flawlessly (or, um, quite as often) as Valentino? I think not. Here, a perfect example: The designer’s Floral Flap Clutch would be insanely gaudy in nearly any other color, but the muted gray shade provides sensible balance to an audacious sprinkling of textured flowers. Soft, elegant and guaranteed to be a favorite throughout the season, it’s available to pre-order for $1795 at Nordstrom.

Now that’s what I call a bad case of hat hair. Beyonce‘s new wavy, mushroomy hairstyle may have been a major hair don’t, but her purple Dior Samourai 1947 woven handbag is a definite DO. The upscale purse some Sasha Fierce-ness to Beyonce’s Katy Perry-esque polka-dot playsuit, though I’d love to see her pair that gorgeous bag with something a bit more formal. Either way, the look is a winner…from the neck down, at least.

I can’t remember the last time I looked at a Valentino purse and thought what a great neutral accent piece it was, chanel purses, but I think the new 360 embroidered shoulder bag is about as close as we’ll ever get to that. Thanks to its understated color palette, it makes a stunning companion for spring’s pastels and neutrals. It will also balance out a bold ensemble nicely. As usual, there’s a big, floppy bow involved (this time in beige leather), while the fabric body, embroidered with a straw floral print, manages to look strangely like lace from a distance – which is pretty cool, indeed. Available for $1195 at Net-a-Porter.

Not quite risqué, but still rather subversive with its highly unusual shape, this Emilio Pucci Bean-Shaped Hard Clutch earns itself the official quirky seal of approval (if such a thing existed, that is). Boasting kidney-like architecture that can’t help but garner attention,lv bags, it’s a sturdy clutch saturated in a rich, lustrous navy hue. Its other impressive detail? The crazy amount of shine that emanates from such a petite, hand-held piece. Use it as the statement-maker for your simple cocktail attire – it will do the job nicely. Available for $1385 at Net-a-Porter.

A serious stunner of a purse, the Valentino Ricamo Shining Flower Tote is guaranteed to turn heads wherever you take it – if not for its fairly huge size, then for its ostentatious design. Absolutely dripping in black sequins, it’s accented by silk-chiffon petals in ivory, metallic strips down the center and, right at its heart, a row of gleaming crystals. And you know there’s a big bow involved – this time, gucci bags, it’s bold in black leather. It’s not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure. Available for $4495 at Net-a-Porter.

Christian Louboutin Sequined Clutch December 1st, 2009Where: Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 W. 18th St., at Sixth Ave.
Handbag designers of late can’t seem to get away from the stud, and Anya Hindmarch is no exception. The designer’s latest, the Bowery Bag, follows the stud trend with fabulous results in my book. The combination of smooth black leather, silver hardware, and silver studs arranged in a wicker-weave pattern result in a fashion-forward handbag that’s got edge, but isn’t too punk rock for everyday wear. Available for $1,350 at Saks Fifth Avenue.

There might still be snow on the ground, but spring collections are launching! The new Valentino Laceland Tote makes me wish for sunny days, a flowy dress, and a warm breeze. The neutral color would work with so many outfits, but this is by no means a boring handbag. The lace texture adds a nice element of lightness to such a large purse – I can almost picture skipping with it over my shoulder! Available for $3495 at Bergdorf Goodman.

Christian Louboutin takes a detour with this Ribbon & Chain Print Shopper, a canvas purse which, while lovely to look at, feels a bit older and more mumsy than the hip audience the label usually targets. In other words, I’d suggest it for my mother,Discount handbags, but not myself. That said, the red leather strap and hanging tassel add extra flair…and recall those iconic Louboutin soles. Available for pre-order for $695 at Neiman Marcus.
