Top designers have teamed up to create limited-edition, union-made designs in support of Obama, including Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, and Zac Posen. There’s plenty of arm candy too, so get political with these pro-Obama designs:
Rag & Bone Change is Awesome Tote: A casual, slouchy tote stamped with “Change is Awesome” in green.
Derek Lam Obama Flower Tote: A red, white, and blue floral collage with script letters reading “A Fresh Start. Obama ’08.”
Isaac Mizrahi Stand for Change Tote Bag: A structured tote emblazoned with the Obama logo and boasting brown leather handles.
Diane von Furstenberg Obama ’08 Love Tote: A feminine, black-trimmed tote scrawled with hearts, Obama ’08, hope, and change.

Is it just me or is Hayden Panettiere starting to send off a young Katherine Heigl vibe? She’s totally gorgeous, has a great figure, and always dresses cute but in a relaxed, every woman hence (hence the flip flops and shopping tote). Her latest handbag fine is this pretty fetching bisque-hued Coach Patent Sabrina Purse. It’s a beautiful bag, one that’s trendy (thanks to its patent finish) yet still tasteful and polished, which is appropriate for a rising star of Hayden’s age. Good pick, girl!

This Fendi Chain Zucca Baguette is perfect. It is the more manageable size of 6 1/2” tall by 11” wide. And the mix of small and large logo jacquard is spot on for this season and Spring 2009. Of course Fendi also hit the nail on the head with it’s use of CHAIN (one of this seasons top trends). There is a touch of chain at the shoulder strap, but it is divided by a leather handles that makes wearing this baguette painless. The handles snuggles into your shoulder and you are off. Watch for more logo jacquard play for Spring. I have a feeling this will be a big trend going forward! Available at neimanmarcus.com for $1100

Metallic leather, designer replica handbags, metallic finishes, metallic anything has been on point for several years running. Once considered flashy and too glamorous for everyday, now metallic colors are acceptable anytime. Dolce & Gabbana offer up this delectable flap evening bag with a mix of silver, bronze, gunmetal and gold. Adding a fine chain shoulder strap and satin lining, this bag is delicious. Ms.Martini is bigger then she looks from the picture. She measures 11 1/2″ wide by 9″ tall which is slightly over sized for a true evening bag, sunglasses, so use this bag all the time. Metallics are here to stay.

A girlfriend at Juicy Couture had hooked me (and now all of you) up with a Friends and Family coupon you can use this weekend. After spending hours getting into your glamorous Halloween costume, you probably want to kick back in some comfortable, but super-cute sweats. You get a full 25% off regular priced stuff when you bring the coupon into the store.

This Reiss Malia Clutch is lovely. Can’t you just see SJP carrying this purse to the Oscar’s? It’s soft rose color and crinkle cotton blend fabric looks like a soft floral pattern. Combined with the ball shaped frame lock closure this bag exudes lusciousness and buttery cream. The shiny gold perfectly accents this evening bag without looking too gaudy. And it doesn’t look like any other designer out there. I think that is what I like most about Reiss. They don’t just knock off the big guys, they actually design their own looks.
available at reiss.co.uk/us-en approx $110 USD

One glance at this lovely bag all but confirms you’re looking at something designed by Marc Jacobs. Who else is responsible for such overuse of quilted leather in that telltale, slightly diminutive pattern? If it were anyone else, I suspect I’d be bored by now, but I’m loving the designer’s new Damen Bowler. Named for the street in Chicago where his Marc by Marc Jacobs store is located, this chic bag is, at least in shape, reminiscent of various LV and MJ designs of the past. This offers a fresh take on a basic style with little details that make a big difference, namely the striking vertical buckles. Available in black and white for $1295 at Neiman Marcus.

Though this style is nothing new, this incarnation of the Michael Kors ID Chain Python Hobo definitely is. Regardless of how you may feel about python purses (I’m personally not a fan), you have to hand it to Kors for creating something so brilliantly striking and enigmatic that it makes even the biggest haters take notice. A designer normally recognized for his attention to detail and classic pieces, Kors takes a different approach with this wildly unexpected version of his famed ID Hobo. As versatile and spacious as ever, it’s made with genuine python and accented by thick chain details along the sides. I’d never carry this, but I do admit to being slightly intrigued by that great color scheme. Available to pre-order for $2895 at Neiman Marcus.

I love this Juicy Couture Narda Houndstooth Bag and its fresh twist on a winter staple fabric. The classic and sophisticated fabric gets a rock and roll update with leather piping stitched to compose the traditional check pattern. But this handbag is not total rock and roll, with minimal hardware; this bag is all about the houndstooth. The Narda Houndstooth bag comes in two color combinations. I like the black and brown for the winter, but if you need to have it right now, like I do, it is also available in tan and cream, perfect for the fall! Available at Saks for $550.

The Hiller, Totally Turnlock, nor Dr.Q, this bag hails not. Marc by Marc Jacob’s Staples and Stud satchel steps away from it’s wildly successful handbag series that have been all the rage for the past few seasons. This motorcycle chic bag is fun and has a new energy that Marc‘s look was due for. Leave it to one of the leading designers of today to time his need for a face-lift perfectly. Regardless of whether this bag is an instant success, at least Marc is moving in a new direction and will continue to give us fabulous bags for future portage.
