ANKARA - The world's first quadruple limb transplant operation took place on Friday at Hacettepe University in the Turkish capital of Ankara, the country's semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.
The operation, which began on Friday morning, will transplant two arms and two legs of a deceased donor to a patient, Dr. Murat Tuncer was quoted as saying. The doctor added that the face of the donor will be transplanted to another patient. "We expect the two operations to continue late into the night on Friday," Tuncer noted, adding that a press conference will be held Saturday regarding the operations.
