HANOI, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's benchmark VN-Index went down 7.63 points to close at 434.95 points on Friday over the previous trading day.
The VN-Index on the country's southern house, the Ho Chi Minh ( HCM) City Stock Exchange (HoSE), went down 7.63 points, or 1.72 percent, against the previous trading day to close at 434.95 points on Friday.
During the week cheap gucci belts, VN-Index lost 45.15 points or 10.38 percent against last Friday's closing session. It experienced all five downs, posting the highest level of 469.69 points on Monday and the lowest level of 434.95 points on Friday.
Last week VN-Index ranged from 480.01 points to 488.07 points.
A total of 80.358 million shares worth 1.227 trillion VND (58. 87 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the HoSE on Friday, an increase of 3.36 percent in volume and 6.6 percent in value against Thursday.
The Friday's trading session marked the longest down streak of the VN-Index. The index has fallen for eight consecutive trading sessions, losing 53.12 points from the 15-month high record of 488. 07 points on May 8.
VN-30 index, the new benchmark index for the southern bourse which has been applied since Feb. 6, 2012 and tracks the 30 leading shares by both market capitalization and liquidity, closed at 504.61 points on Friday, down 8.85 points, or 1.72 percent against the previous trading day. A total of 29.219 million shares were traded, worth 627.118 billion VND (30.07 million dollars).
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index went down 2.34 points, or 3.07 percent, to close at 73.81 points on Friday.
Analysts held that the short-term trend has shifted to declining and investors had better turn their portfolios into cash to ensure short-term safety.
