US Mint Raises Platinum and Gold Collector Coin Prices_28
print Three of over a dozen United States Mint gold coins which had their prices raised. Prices are now higher for United States Mint platinum and gold coins produced for coin collectors. The Mint raised them as a result of rising metal values. Coin prices can get adjusted weekly based on the Mint’s product pricing policy and the direction of precious metals. Those metals have been volatile givenchy shoes, but they had managed to maintain an average which had kept coins at their same prices since October 12 — the last of six straight weekly adjustments. When the London Fix average for gold jumped to within $1,700.00 and $1749.99 (between last Thursday to this Wednesday), the United States Mint pulled the trigger and raised gold collector coin prices. Likewise, platinum during the same period shot to within $1,550.00 to $1,649.99 and that dictated a $100 increase to the 2011-W Proof American Platinum Eagle. Interesting, at that time the upper pricing brackets maxed out at $1,199.99 an ounce for gold and $2,149.99 an ounce for platinum. The ceilings have moved higher over time. Just recently (mid-October) the Mint pushed them up further in the event precious metals reach record heights. The upper brackets are now at $2,999.99 for gold and $3,449.99 for platinum.
