UNITED NATIONS, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Top UN officials on Saturday strongly condemned the killing of more than 90 civilians in Syria, and stressed that those responsible for the deadly attack must be held accountable.
Observers from the UN Supervision Mission in Syria (UNSMIS) confirmed the killing after having viewed the bodies in the village of Houla near the central city of Homs, where they also confirmed from an examination of ordnance that artillery and tank shells were fired at a residential neighborhood.
UNICEF outraged by killing of 32 children in Syria: spokesperson

UN strongly condemns Houla massacre in Syria
BEIJING, May 27 (Xinhuanet) -- UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and UN-Arab League joint envoy Kofi Annan have strongly condemned Friday’s Houla massacre in Syria. At least 90 people, including 32 children, were killed. The massacre is the largest since the UN cease-fire truce went into effect on April 12th.

"The Secretary-general and the (UN-Arab League) Joint Special Envoy (for Syria Kofi Annan) condemn in the strongest possible terms the killing, confirmed by United Nations observers, of dozens of men, women and children and the wounding of hundreds more in the village of El-Houleh, near Homs," said the statement, issued on behalf of Ban and Annan.?
