WASHINGTON
, May 17 (UPI) -- White House spokesman Tony Snow's first televised White House news briefing left reporters with a little personal insight and few answers.
The former Fox News commentator who replaced Scott McClellan as press secretary mixed quick jokes
, punches and passes over some questions in Tuesday's briefing
, the Washington Post reported.
Snow
, a colon cancer survivor
, choked up when asked about the yellow Lance Armstrong bracelet he was wearing and called a number of questions critical of Bush administration policy "interesting."
He treaded on seemingly racist language too
, the Post said.
In response to a question on a controversial spy program Snow said: "I don't want to hug the tar baby."
And on the increase of immigration in the country he said: "Human beings are cussedly unpredictable."
With little more than a week on the job
, Snow had to take a rain check on answering detailed questions and simply passed on those he didn't want to respond to.
