Not only eye tracking . The future smartphone from Samsung , the Galaxy S5 , it could also be controlled with movmenti of the head. Although it is only speculation , it is not unlikely that the Korean company thinks of this solution for its next smart phone .
On 8 January, the European Patent Office has given the go ahead for a Samsung patent that covers the use of the devices through gestures that include , among others, the movements of the head.
The Samsung Galaxy S4(galaxy s3 cases) already includes some features that rely on gestures such as Smart and Stay Smart Scroll , but it seems that the Galaxy S5 introduce advanced versions than those in current phones .
In particular , the patent describes the ability to wink or nod his head to check the specific functions of the S5 . The smartphone should also respond to the movement of the head to the left to go back one page in the browser and right to switch to the next.
The detection head tracking will be done by dividing the image received from the camera front in specific sections . The camera should follow the change of a particular section, as a gesture due to the movement of the head and therefore, communicate to the smartphone that will in turn perform the associated function.
Although the patent filing lists a publication date, January 2014 , it was actually filed on 5 luglio2013 . This makes it even more likely that such a system could be introduced with the Galaxy S5.
