From its cushiony-soft leather to its easy, practical shape and understated details, this hobo is a slightly more chic version of the mellower Convertible Satchel. Both boast the same ruched front pockets, which lend the handbags a little extra texture.

Almost magnetically, the sunlit Kooba Nelli Double Zip Soft Shopper draws you right in. Whether that’s due to the highly unusual, unstructured shape or the blinding yellow hue isn’t important. The question is – could you carry this anywhere? Is it even a shopper? Measuring in at around 14 inches high by 12 inches wide, it’s not the largest handbag in the world, but it’s got an interesting charm that might just be enhanced by the fact that this season finds us all heavily obsessed with the brightest shades in the world right now. It’s a head-turner, but I doubt I’d carry this.

Victoria and David Beckham sure have a packed social calendar. They were spotted on a double date with Kate Beckinsale and her hubby Len Wiseman recently. Victoria and her just-as-beautiful hubby were photographed holding hands in the car — how sweet is that! While Kate arrived in a stunning red dress and Christian Louboutin nude patent No. Prives, Victoria was spotted in contrasting black and pink, toting a fun Marc Jacobs Rana purse, and wearing two Hermes bracelets on her arm. MarcJacobs.com features the same handbag in a tangerine. Which would you rather own?

Tory Burch never fails to leave her distinctive mark on everything she designs, whether they’re trendy flats or bold tote bags. Her Jane Tote is a slight departure from her usual offerings, yet its graphic print is still right in line with what we’re familiar with. Since it’s PVC, it’s great for a day at the beach or strolling the boardwalk. Included is a small pouch in a complementary color. Available in orange pink and this pulled together navy green version.
Available for $185 at Saks.

So Gucci is milking the Hysteria collection for all it’s worth. While designers continue to crank out a bevy of handbags each season, certain houses understand how one style of a particular collection can just stick unlike anything else, and when this happens, the It bag is born. Increasing their chances of having a hit, designers are creating 5+ styles of a certain collection to ensure that at least one “hooks” a starlet, and thus the public. The result is more Hysteria (literally and figuratively), and this time it’s got a great removable strap for those of us on the go. I think the black patent version is a winner (it’s also available in dark silver), and works well with spring’s acid brights. Don’t be afraid of mixing this bag with light textures and frothy colors; spring is all about mixing it up! The Hysteria Medium Top Handle Bag with Removable Strap retails for $1,790 at neimanmarcus.com.

One of the more recent Marc by Marc Jacobs shows was a sublime showcase of bold, transitional pieces with a decidedly retro feel. The designer’s Owl Leather handbag follows suit, boasting a structured shape so reminiscent of elegant ladies who lunch. The red adds a neutral pop of color. Since it’s a color for all seasons, plan on wearing this often. It’s just as suitable for the office as it is an errand run. Best of all, it’s a relative steal for a Marc Jacobs purse. Available for $398 at Saks.

Zac Posen’s Attache Madison Purse is surprisingly chic even once you open it and see that the interior resembles an accordion file folder. The tan and white color combination might be neutral, but it stands out for miles. Consider this a strictly work-appropriate handbag; you could carry it around elsewhere, but it’s far too straightlaced and structured for a casual environment.
Available for $1200 at Saks.

Considering almost every Juicy Couture purse I’ve seen involves pink, dogs, logos and a variety of other teenybopper-esque details, I’m thoroughly impressed with the brand’s new Janet Nylon Hobo. It’s a youthful handbag, but it wouldn’t look out of place on a more mature woman’s arm. I love the fresh plaid print, and the bag itself is easily this season’s grab-and-go standout. If it’s not for you, it might make a cute gift for a younger pal.

In addition to its flawless silhouette, Elly also boasts gorgeous shine and enough room for the essentials (be practical, though – it is just a clutch, designer handbags, after all).
