Ping Rapture Hybrid
The Ping Rapture Hybrid has a combination of a 17-4 stainless steel body, tungsten nickel sole plate and 475 super steel face that raise hybrid performance to new levels of distance, forgiveness and control. The thin, super steel face provides a hot, responsive hitting area and allows Ping engineers to re-distribute weight in the form of tungsten nickel on the sole. The Ping Rapture Hybrid’s heavier sole plate positions the centre of gravity low and away from the face for higher launch and low spin--resulting in high, penetrating trajectories for longer, softer landing approach shots. The sloped crown—first introduced on the popular G5 Hybrid—also aids in increasing the launch angle and reducing spin. Ping Rapture Hybrid’s have a large head and a trailing edge relief design provides control from any turf condition. The shape and thickness of the sole plate extends weight to the perimeter for maximum forgiveness.
Club composed of a 17-4 SS body, thin 475 super steel face, and high density tungsten nickel sole. Properly utilizing these materials increases the moment of inertia, making this hybrid more forgiving and also creates higher launch and less spin for a higher but flatter penetrating ball flight.
Tungsten Nickel Sole Discretionary weight saved from the thin 475 SS face and other non-high stress areas is put back in the tungsten nickel sole as weight pads that are strategically placed along the back skirt of the club to bring the CG down and back. This provides a hybrid that launches the ball high for soft approach shots, but also has a penetrating trajectory for maximum distance.
Sloped Crown Design Helps bring the CG further down and away from the face resulting in a club that is easy to control from any turf conditions.
Robotic Plasma Weld Very accurate and consistent welds improve the consistency and durability of the face while saving weight, which can be redistributed throughout the club head.
Exceptional Aesthetics Simple, but eye catching aesthetics make the Rapture Hybrid appealing to your eye.
Three Loft Options Available in 18°, 21°, and 24° loft options, you are sure to find a club to replace those hard to hit long irons, with easier to hit hybrids.
New TFX 909H Shaft Premium graphite shaft designed by PING specifically for the Rapture product line. This shaft utilizes high-end lightweight materials which increase club head speed for maximum distance and increase tip stability for better control and feel.
VS Proto 80 Hybrid Shaft Premium graphite shaft designed by Aldila promotes a lower ball flight trajectory than the TFC 909H, by producing a lower launch angle with a slightly lower spin rate.
New NTS Grip This new wrap style grip utilizes a soft rubber compound for enhanced feel, similar to the 703 grip.
The Ping Rapture Hybrid is a little confusing. The head size fom front to back is halfway between what is generally considered a hybrid and a fairway wood, not this this is a bad thing. It does provide for a very forgiving club that does what it says on the tin and flies high and lands soft. The face is forgiving and it is very easy to hit. However it is more for the fairway and tee then bad lies in the semi and rough, which is where we expect utilities to be. As it launches higher, the lofts appear stronger than usual for these clubs, so make sure you hit them first to get the right loft and flight for you.
