Parts of New York get 2 feet of snow
BUFFALO , N.Y. , Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Parts of New York were coated with up to about two feet of Lake Erie-effect snow Monday , meteorologists said. With a lake snow warning for another six inches in effect for some areas of western New York until 6 p.m. EST , WGRZ-TV in Buffalo reported Ellicottville had received 23 inches , South Dayton 20 inches and Little Valley 18 inches. More than a foot was common elsewhere in the region , the TV station said. The Baltimore Sun reported there were winter storm warnings in effect for Garrett and Allegany counties where six-12 inches were expected. The Petoskey News-Review in Michigan said up to a foot of lake-effect snow also was dropped in parts of Otsego, Antrim and Kalkaska counties. "It's snowing pretty good in Hudson Township ," said Randy Thompson , a foreman for the eastern part of Charlevoix County , which only received about half that amount. "This was not anything really major." The Cleveland region was expecting six-10 inches by Tuesday and the National Weather Service also issued a winter storm warning for several of West Virginia's mountainous counties, with up to a foot of snow predicted for the higher elevations, West Virginia MetroNews reported.
