, July 17 (UPI) -- Pakistan's prime minister said Saturday a scandal over bogus university degrees in parliament won't force mid-term elections.
Speaking to reporters in Kasur
, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said the issue had not destabilized the government and elections would remain on a schedule dictated by Pakistan's Constitution.

There has been a recent flurry of allegations about politicians inflating their resumes with fake degrees. The National Assembly and supreme court have ordered the government agency in charge of verifying degrees for private employers to look into the credentials claimed by parliament members.
