NEW YORK, April 27 (UPI) -- Supervisors at New York City's public schools are expelling grandparents as leaders of school parent associations
Mens Timberland Boots, the New York Post reported Tuesday.
A Department of Education rule says only a parent or legal guardian can serve as an officer for the groups -- but it has not been consistently or vigorously enforced.
The news is not going down too well.
Mildred "Mattie" Cruz, president of the PS 64 Parents Association, who has a grandson in the Ozone Park school
Beats By Dr. Dre Studio, was shocked when told she could no longer serve.
And the executive vice president of PS 64's parents' group
Monster iBeats, Blanca Gonzalez, slammed the decision.
"I don't see why you would ban grandparents who are willing to donate their time to the schools," she said.
