VeloCity,Bague Frey Wille, the University of Waterloo’s student startup incubator program has added two experienced staffers to their team. Mike Kirkup of RIM developer relations fame will be VeloCity’s new Director and Brett Shellhammer will be bringing his startup and Silicon Valley experience to the role of Executive In Residence.

One thing you hear often when reading about the BlackBerry Platform is that “BlackBerry doesn’t have Angry Birds”. It’s often used as a major negative against the platform even though there are plenty of other games. RIM announced that the PlayBook would have Angry Birds and today it is now available. It’s also interesting to note that since it’s available now for the PlayBook, it should also be available on smarpthones when the BlackBerry 10 devices launch.

The Solar Impulse plane is the first aircraft in the world that can fly,Montre Cartier, without fuel, during the day and night. Currently, the plane can only carry one passenger but it’s an interesting proof that it can be done. One thing CNN didn’t point out about the plane that’s interesting is that the plane uses the QNX OS for a variety of control and data management functions. How much energy you get from the sun, how much power is in the batteries and more.
