Choosing the right mascara depends on your lashes' thickness. If you're not sure, ask a pro for help. In general, if your lashes are fine and you want more volume, search for a thicker mascara brush. The opposite is true for thick lashes. Proper application is key. Push back the lashes, then apply the mascara sideways, pulling the lashes with the brush to prevent clumping. If one or two coats are not enough, touch up the tips only. St Laurent also recommends curling lashes; most experts say to do this before applying mascara.
I am a MAC user but I dont use all of their products becasue some of it you can go cheaper on. There loose powder and shadows are really good cuz u get high impact. a little goes a long way. It also depends on your experience with make up application. If you just started wearing makeup it would be a wast to be using mac on yourself because u wont get the full effect. if you are good at doing designs or color combos with your shadow or if you know to use a blush or glitter to accentuate your look then mac is for u. Loreal HIP is good too but some of thier products cost just as much as MAC and dont get as good an effect. go to sephora. find a chick with good makeup and ask what she uses becasue very few of htem use MAC.

It's all up to you. If you don't want to be mistaken as a male, then I here are some suggestions, however I want you to take my advice with a grain of salt. These are only a suggestion and you don't have to do anything you don't feel 100% comfortable with.
