The quality of mobile phones photos is okay - but nothing more. Sony now wants to change that and has presented two lenses for smartphones. They are put on the mobile phone and app control.

Today, virtually every mobile phone has a camera. Mostly, they provide even usable images - when the Sun is shining. As soon as it becomes darker, most smartphones when photographing fail.

This is hardly surprising, have but just finger nail large sensors and mini lenses that allow little light. There is almost never an optical zoom. Who wants closer must increase, which leads quickly to pixel- and uncertain results.

Sony has unveiled two lenses now shortly before the start of the international Funkausstellung (IFA), which can be plugged on Smartphones, to compensate for these disadvantages exactly.

The display as a viewfinder

The lenses with the labels QX10 and QX100 are compact cameras basically without display and hot shoe. They are coupled via NFC chip (Near Field Communication) and Wi-Fi with your Smartphone and use the display as a viewfinder on the settings and zoom level can be made.

This works on Android phones as well as on Apple's iPhones. The lenses, in which a photo sensor, a memory card and a battery stuck on the application PlayMemories mobile, that free can be loaded from the AppStores are controlled.

The QX10 is the cheaper option (200 euro) with a 18.2 MP sensor and ten times zoom. QX100 model (450 euros) even a fast Carl Zeiss lens is a 20.2 megapixel sensor installed, which is four times larger than ordinary compact cameras

Both models can be used also separately from the Smartphone and can be then distance operated by mobile phone even from several feet. The lenses have an own rocker switch for the zoom, a trigger and an optical image stabilizer.
