MUMBAI
, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Officials in India said they have an export deal and a nuclear deal passed in Parliament.
The U.S.-Indian agreement on civilian nuclear cooperation passed last week
, and Tuesday an agreement was reached on export control requirements with the Nuclear Suppliers Group
, Indian news agency PTI reported.
The Nuclear Suppliers Group still must reach an agreement with the United States on changes in the non-proliferation code and safeguard requirements.
A special meeting of the NSG is scheduled for Aug. 21
, and Indian officials have said they think the safeguard requirement should be removed.
At a previous meeting with the International Atomic Energy Agency
, specific safeguards for India were agreed upon.
