DALLAS, April 29 (UPI) -- A veteran Texas educator will head schools in Dallas where he grew up after migrating from Mexico as a child.
Michael Hinojosa, 48, was hired Thursday by the Dallas school board to succeed Mike Moses as superintendent. His $300,000 annual salary will include incentives to improve academic achievement in the district.

Hinojosa told The Dallas Morning News he plans to do a lot of listening in the first few weeks of his administration, which begins officially May 12.
"I'm not going to come in here with guns blazing
