Hamas misleads Israeli Shin Bet
GAZA, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Militants from al Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Hamas movement , revealed Tuesday that they had misled Shin Bet, the internal Israeli security intelligence service, through a double agent. Four militants and one Israeli soldier were killed in a day of violence. A militant, wearing a commandos' uniform and a black mask, told a news conference that Hamas recruited a local collaborator with the intelligence service and carried out a selective and extraordinary attack earlier Tuesday. An Israeli army spokesman said that Palestinian militants detonated a roadside bomb under an Israeli armored vehicle, in which one Israeli soldier was killed and four others were wounded. The militant called Tuesday's attack, in which two Hamas militants were killed, "the penetrating arrow," one of the achievements made after misleading the Israeli security intelligence service. "We have recruited one of al Qassam members to become a collaborator with the Zionist security intelligence, and during the last four months we succeeded in misleading them by passing wrong information," said the militant. "While he was offering wrong information, our militants dug a tunnel that reaches the borders between Gaza and Israel, and today an ambush was carried out." He said that a 1,000-pound bomb was detonated under an Israeli army patrol, where one Israeli soldier was killed, and then two Hamas militants came out from the tunnel and continued attacking the soldiers. "The Zionist enemy admitted that one soldier was killed, but we believe that the number is higher than this," the militant said. "We have tape recorded the conversation between the collaborator and the security officers of the enemy." The militant called upon Palestinians who are collaborating with Israel to quit and get back to their people and their militant groups, and warned them that if "they wouldn't stop collaborating with Israel, they would be of course killed." "We would fight the phenomenon of collaborating with Israel by penetrating into the security intelligence service," said the militant , adding "we had learned a lot out of this experience, and more attacks would be carried out." The militant, who refused to reveal him name, denied that the attack would affect the results of the meeting held Monday between PLO chairman Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas leadership in Syria. "These meetings aim at reinforcing the Palestinian unity, and our attacks are to resist the occupation," the militant said. "And as long as the Zionist occupation continues its crimes, our armed resistance would never stop." Palestinian and Israeli confirmed that four Palestinian militants and one Israeli soldier were killed Tuesday in fierce armed confrontations in eastern Gaza City neighborhood of Sheja'eya. The sources said that after militants from al Qassam Brigades detonated a roadside bomb, Israeli soldiers and Hamas militants exchanged fire, during which two Hamas militants were killed. The news about the two killed hadn't been confirmed yet by the Palestinian side. The al Qassam Brigades issued a leaflet claiming reasonability for the attack on the Israeli armored vehicle, saying it affirmed that armed resistance against Israel "would continue until the end of occupation." After the Israeli soldier was killed , an Israeli army force backed by a drone plane, a helicopter and several tanks and armored vehicles raided the neighborhood of Sheja'eya. Armed confrontations erupted in the area between militants and Israeli troops. Two Palestinian militants were killed in the clashed. One was hit by a missile fired from a drone, and the other was killed by Israeli gunfire. Palestinian medics said at least eight Palestinians were injured; one of them is a 14-year-old boy in serious conditions. The Israeli army forces are still operating in the area.Related Topics Articles:
