The New York Yankees would be playing even better if outfielder Ichiro Suzuki would be able to contribute a little more. However, the fact that the veteran is off to one of the worst starts of his career means the Yankees have a big decision to make. Considering Ben Francisco is batting a meager . 111 (2-for-18) in eight games this season, he is the obvious decision to be sent down. At this point, it does not appear the Yankees have much choice other than to make Suzuki a backup once Granderson returns from the disabled list. That does not mean he still cannot be productive this season in his given opportunities, especially since there is a good chance that he will turn it around at some point throughout the year. Not to mention, New York would be crazy to remove slugger Vernon Wells, who already has five homers this season, from the lineup despite his inexperience in right field.
