LOS ANGELES, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- The Directors Guild of America Thursday announced the winners of three key achievement awards.
With more than 40 Hollywood film credits, Jerry Ziesmer will receive the Frank Capra Achievement Award given to an assistant director or unit production manager, Daily Variety reported. "The Way We Were," "Apocalypse Now," "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," "Scarface," "Jerry Maguire" and "Almost Famous," are just a few of the films Ziesmer has worked on.
Joseph Aceti will receive the lifetime achievement award in sports direction. He worked on the 1968, 1972
Nike Free Run 2 Shoes, 1976, 1980 and 1992 Olympic Games; the 1990, 1991 and 1992 World Series; ABC's "Wide World of Sports
Nike Lunar Eclipse," with some 300 shows as the coordinating director; and 80 major boxing matches.
Donald Jacob of CBS will receive the 2006 Franklin J. Schaffner Achievement Award for an associate director or stage manager. He has worked on "The Young and the Restless" as well as news
Nike Lunar Eclipse 2, variety, dramatic and game shows.
The 58th annual DGA Awards Dinner is scheduled for Jan. 28 in Los Angeles.
