Structural Formula:
Physical & Chemical properties: DTPMP is a pale yellow acidic liquid, easily chelating with di- and trivalent ion such as Mg2-, Ca2-, Ba2-, etc.
Application
Aqueous Diethylenetriamine Penta(methylene Phosphonic Acid) (DTPMP) is used as scale inhibitor, deflocculant, sequestrant, water stabilizer in cooling water, boiler, oil-drilling, detergent under high pH (10~11) (dosage: 3mg/L), also applied as stabilizer of hydrogen peroxide (dosage 20 to 50mg/L).
Preparation
DTPMP can be obtained by reaction between diethylene triamine, formaldehyde, and phosphorus trichloride.
