The Lumia 925 does not compare with the flagships of the camera and the navigation on top. For other reviews, the Finns but the competition from Korea and California must pay tribute.

Nokia has moved two years ago to Samsung / Android and Apple / iPhone to declare war(Samsung Cover Case). The still-unexplained goal is to become the third ecosystem with Windows Phone relevant. The Lumia 925 is the fourth top model, which send the Finns against the competitors after the Lumia 800, the Lumia 900 and Lumia 920 in the race.

Here are two opposing groups, and a single company. The market leader is currently the tandem Samsung / Google, and Samsung is responsible for the hardware and some of the software features and Google for the operating system. Number 2 in the market is Apple, which develop both hardware and software alone. Nokia is working in cooperation with Microsoft in a similar situation such as Samsung(samsung galaxy s i9000 Cases) with Google.

It is quite interesting to see who is the driving force in the constellations and who is responsible for success or failure. We will compare the three top smartphones together with some important criteria, namely:

- Maps and navigation

- Software, Operation and available apps

- Design and Connectivity

- Camera and video

Maps, maps and navigation

All three have to offer their own solutions. Apple is here with its six newly introduced in iOS Maps application of the clear losers, so last year was even laughing stock, had to apologize publicly and recommend the products of the competition.

Here Nokia has with its own maps and navigation, as well as with Google Maps. Here, then, Nokia and Google are facing each other.

In the pure maps and satellite data Google and Nokia are probably pretty on par, with the exception that at Hereford still the most detailed maps of South Korea and Japan are missing. Google Street View with naturally enjoys a unique position. However, again the problem of the smartphone that you it where you need it, ie not at home, has to expect pretty decent roaming costs. Maps is clearly better for the traffic information, but is simply maps used by more people than Hereford and therefore gets more data.

In the area of Navi both have advantages in different areas. Maps also does not provide navigation for cyclists, Here. The biggest difference, however, lies probably in the fact that Hereford can be used completely offline. So when I go on vacation from Helsinki to Split in Croatia, I can do that without having to obtain even a single byte in roaming, during which can be quite expensive with Google. I therefore row with Nokia maps and navigation clear to Google, because I'm often traveling in Europe and rely on route guidance.

Add to that the augmented reality app live in Sight Here, the points on interest overlaid on the camera display. However, both GPS positioning and compass of the Lumia 925 are significantly less accurate than competitors.

Software operation and available apps

With the operating systems Microsoft, Google and Apple compete against each other. Here Windows Phone is clearly the rear with a gap of one to two years over the competition. The system is certainly intuitive, runs silky smooth and offers numerous features for SM friends. But the OS still missing important features. A notification center, a way to sort the list to the right of homescreen widgets and a meaningful structure of the settings you are looking for further vain. Many options such as Wi-Fi and GPS are too complicated to control, it lacks shortcuts. There are indeed apps such as tiles or shortcut dashboard such basic features should a smartphone OS, but master of house and make them available in all modes.

In the third-party applications Microsoft is also still far behind Android and iOS apps with just what little mainstream character is concerned, even if the Windows Store is constantly growing. Its strengths from WP8 only if it is integrated with Skype, Skydrive, Office and Xbox services in a pure Microsoft infrastructure.

Design and Connectivity

Design issues are a matter of taste, but general consensus is now that the Galaxy S4(Power Bank) clearly lags behind the competition. With the Lumia 925, Nokia has certainly made a huge step forward and may defy offer the iPhone. What better like it, everyone must decide for themselves.

When do offer connectivity to all three LTE, but it works with the iPhone 5 in Europe only a few Mobilfunkern, the frequency selection is unique US-centered.

Both the Lumia 925 and the Galaxy S4 support all frequencies used in Europe. But the Galaxy S 4 is a factor of 5 to 10 faster in benchmark tests.

Here the results of each compared to the Galaxy S4 (right). Was measured in the network of A1 with the 2.6 GHz frequency band.

The reason for the poorer performance of the Lumia 925's likely that Windows Phone just the 'antiquated' Qualcomm S4 SoC supports that dates back to the early days of LTE. Other hand, the Galaxy uses the modern Snapdragon S4 S600, which produces significantly less heat and higher bandwidth allows. The Lumia 925 also gets extremely hot when streaming video or other data increased activities at the top.
