BEIJING
, April 22 (UPI) -- China plans to set up this year the world's largest breeding center for the giant panda
, with an initial population of 200 of the endangered animals.
The new facility
, covering more than 7,700 square miles
, will be located in southwest Sichuan province
, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
The facility will become part of the Wolong nature reserve center
, where 130 captive pandas were bred last year from an original population of 10
, the report said.
