300 foreign militants killed in Pakistani month-lo
ISLAMABAD, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf on Thursday said that around 300 foreign militants have been killed in clashes with local tribesmen in Pakistan's South Waziristan bordering Afghanistan since last month. The local tribesmen have got support from Pakistani Army in the fighting against foreign militants, said Musharraf when addressing a conference of military officials in Islamabad. But there are emerging western reports saying that al-Qaeda are running news operatives in Pakistan's tribal region, which also faces escalating risks of "Talibanization". Rejecting the claims, Pakistani government reaffirmed its resolve against terrorists and called for a joint effort of Pakistani government, Afghan government and Afghanistan-based international forces in curtailing illegal movement of fighters.
